Gear Guide 2025
Amateurs — 2025
1990s/early 00s Arcteryx polartec zip

One of my favorite pieces in the gorp realm. I really like the old school made in Canada stuff. Not the biggest ARC guy like I once was, but I will happily rock this.
Alcest - Printemps Emeraude
post rock, shoe gaze, blackgaze (black metal /shoegaze), whatever you call it, this genre of music is what I like to hike to. This whole album is a great to get lost in the woods to.

Before it was a luxury label, it was a legit outdoor brand. From sleeping bags to jackets that were used for the Itallian expedition of K2. Below is a buyers guide for how to authenticate and date vintage pieces. I have a really cool convertable jacket that turns into a vest.

These are my favorite pants. They cost like twice as much as the Gramicci ones, but damn, I can honestly justify the price. I like the deep pockets. I use them for photography and can put my 4x5 film holders in them. /Note the link below may expire during the next season./

The GOAT of outdoor mags released a lookbook style gear guide that features amazing photography and modeling. Theres some gear in here I wish I had. Gear is one of the funnest parts about the outdoors. I understand the gear doesnt make the hiker, but its very fun to nerd out on. In photography I have a Mamiya 6, a lot of film photogs will tell you the gear doesnt matter, its the photographer. Thats true, but theres just some things that enhance the experience. I love the sound the shutter makes, way it feels in my hands, the bellows retracting. Same with outdoor gear. Zipper sound is big. A quiet jacket that doesnt sound swishy, pockets with down zips so they will never open up (normally you zip up and that can come down, if you zip down, it would be hard to zip up, I dont know why outdoor brands got rid of that) etc.
